Hi there lj and friends,
I haven't spent much time here in months but right now I'm really missing Veronica Mars. Funny huh? I mean it was canceled so long ago and the actors have moved on, I can even see them on tv, but it is not the same. So, how to fill that missing gap -- through fic of course, and there is no better supplier than this right here. So a big thank you to lj as a whole and all those keeping the fandom going. It's really helping :) I also missed how this time is just my own and look forward to seeing if I can keep current.
But all reading and no writing makes me feel guilty so here's a little thing inspired by so-to-be-season. Hopefully I still remember how to post ...
I’m submitting this snippet from a WIP called “Lunch”. This portion is PG-13 and ends with the requisite kiss. It's a bit late but I'm in Thailand and my days are still a bit mixed up :) Hopefully this little bit will spur me on to fish the story.
Fandom: Veronica Mars
Pairing: Logan / Veronica
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Through Season One
Notes: AU, takes place approximately two weeks after Season One Ends, a portion of “Lunch 4”

I couldn't help it, although I'm for the LoVe, this combination was just too delicious.
The pairing is a huge spoiler, so don't continue to read if you don't want to know.

I just wanted to express how impressed and proud I was of the people of London. I’ve been here since Monday and it’s been quite a few days. First, the citywide jubilation at winning the Olympic bid then, not 24 hours later, the horror of the bombings.
I’m just an American in England but I wanted to express my sympathy and sorrow for those injured and killed by the attacks. And to express my hope for rest of the city, that it remain safe and regain its sense of security.
To the sleepy guy in checked pants who gave me his seat on the tube, I hope you’re okay and sleeping well.
To the woman who the baby kicked in his excitement at being on a train, thank you for making choo choo noises, and I hope you’re well.
To the many, many people who had to wait or slow down and who helped as I maneuvered our stroller around the tunnels and stairs, thanks and all my best wishes for your safety.
And to all of you in your suits standing outside the pubs, with a pint in one hand, a cigarette in your mouth and a cel phone in your other hand – defiant and beautiful - Cheers.
To all of you who were riding the double decker buses by 5:00 p.m., a big wave and grin at your ability to “get on with it” without losing your compassion or concern.
I’ve been to London before and I’ll be back. It’s glorious, crowded, loud, up late and full of surprises. Thanks for having me and my prayers and hopes are with you.

Summer
It’s June.
Jonathan would say don’t do it. Other kids don’t have the option. Responsibility is its own reward.
Martha would say do it if it’s right.
Lex would say do it big.
Pete would say do it and don’t get caught.
Chloe would say Clark and forget the rest as she dragged a hand up his bicep. He’d flex.
Lana would smile and never say a word.
The cows wouldn’t care.
Lex wins.
In the hall Clark hits three sprinkler heads with heat blasts.
Claxons sound. Water ruins everything. Teenagers file out loudly and sloppily.
School’s out for today.
Summer Escape
Clark exits triumphant and soaked.
Clothes plastered to skin like his smile is attached to his face.
Chloe and Pete jump into her car headed for the Talon with more plans to cool off on a sweltering day.
Clark walks toward them.
Silver purr of German engineering slides to a stop by him.
Window glides down. Voice floats out.
“Heard the alarm, need a rescue?”
The words promise help but the tone threatens danger.
Clark smooths slick hair out of his face, bicep flexes, muscle warms.
Lazy green meets sharp blue.
“Mind wet jeans?”
Door opens. Farmboy enters. Billionaire wins.

For anyone interested in checking out this version of Smallville here are the basic facts.
Lillian and Lionel are the parents of Lex and Lana. Lex is seven and survived the meteor shower at five. Lana is one. Jonathan found Clark after the meteor shower and adopted him. Gabe has daughter Chloe and then got Jonathan. They had a lovely Hawaiian wedding. Right now Clark is four and Chloe is six. Martha is the favorite aunt and relies on the boys to keep her fed :)
The AU was born for
It continues in On a Metropolis Rooftop, Breakfast and Birthday Drabble
This is a slice of Field Trip
Suddenly Chloe thinks she hears Clark’s laugh. This isn’t possible because she’s in school and Clark should be at home. He did once try to follow Dad’s car as he drove her and Lex to school but Pop ran out and managed to stop him before he could actually latch on to the bumper. After that she and Lex and Dad and Pop each had a strong talk with him about not chasing cars, waiting until Lex came home to see him and that in just a few months he’d be going to school also and so he had to be very very careful. Clark thinks that chasing cars is like crossing the street, something he’ll be allowed to do when he’s big.
She hears the laugh again and looks out her classroom door. All the doors are open today because the air conditioning is broken and the school has put big fans in the hallway to move the hot air around. It doesn’t so much make it cooler as windy and noisy. But Lex likes it, the air fans around his face and flaps his tie just a little bit. He can pretend to see the air currents travel around the room. Imagines the breeze with a purple tinge, blowing around children, onto books, through hallways and carrying away bits of fluff and fancy.
Lex hears Clark laughing also. He looks up from his math book and sees Jonathan walking down the hall with Mrs. Pigeot, the principal. Jonathan is carrying Clark and Mrs. Pigeot is talking to the boy and laughing in delight when he mimics her. Jonathan has no idea how his son has picked up French. It looks like he’s also picked up the principal because Clark points at Lex and Mrs. Pigeot steps into the classroom and asks Lex to gather his books and come with them.
The last time Lex was called out of the classroom involved an incident in science class. He’d been listening along when he decided to turn the page and follow directions. No one was hurt but his teacher had burned part of her jacket in her haste to turn off the bunsen burner. If he’d have known Lex could have reached in without any damage but Miss Field was already nervous and the appearance of the blue flame (just like in diag. 4d, noted Lex) sent her over the edge. After his talk with the principal, Lex saw that reading ahead was okay but that doing ahead could lead to screams and destruction.
This time is much more pleasant. As he walks toward them with his books, Clark smiles and Jonathan tells him he’s taking the afternoon off from school to see the planetarium with him and Chloe. “With me, too,” adds Clark importantly. The boys grin.

My attempt at fic for the CLex Typography Challenge
the "Liquid Ex" font is available at A1 Fonts which I found through one of
Hello my name is spyhop and I have a problem.
I‘ve gotten Clark drunk.
I’ve made him fondle and kiss and do things to girls.
So it shouldn’t be a shock that here I’ve given him drugs. E, Ecstacy to be exact. For the sake of the story, to see how Lex would react, to fit in with the name of the font I chose -- Liquid Ex.
Do I think the Clark we know from the show thus far would do drugs? No.
But this Clark is in college, tired of secrets, in love with his best friend, trying to save the world, pass organic chem, be a good friend, find his path in life, be a good son and not wreck anything, including his sanity, while he’s at it.
Clark must always be in control and always be ready to do the right thing. And what he most looks forward to – well that would be seeing Lex. An activity both exciting and frustrating for him. Lex of the contradictions, Lex of the bright temptations, Lex who asks the tough questions, Lex who keeps him at arms distance for his own good, Lex who looks, smells, walks and is sex.
So, for once, when he doesn’t think there will be anyone around to see – Clark cuts loose.
I wrote the first line and I though this would be darker and dirtier but apparently love will conquer and Clark on drugs brings out tender understanding in our young tycoon.
As for whether the drug would affect Clark. Yeah I think so. We’ve seen him brood and sigh and feel sorry for himself so I think his brain definitely has the mood receptors to be affected. His metabolism will hurry it out but I think he could definitely ride the rush.
A little Liquid Ex
Clark doesn’t want to risk Lex leaving him alone. Clark doesn’t want Lex to not take his call. Clark doesn’t like that Lex has plans he didn’t talk about. Clark doesn’t ever want Lex to look at him with horror.
Clark doesn’t want to be in his own brain tonight.
He dresses in black because it’s easiest. Black like the shadows, dark like a void. Eyes too sharp when he lands at the door. Hands flapping rapidly against his wool-clad legs. Looking hunted but waiting patiently, Clark is never pushy. The door guy leaves him outside for a bit, he’s alone and he’s gorgeous. No club is above using their customers as bait.
Clark stands outside as his brain buzzes within his skull. The colors getting brighter, the edges becoming softer, he can feel a need to move growing within his muscles. He looks up and the streetlight flares, light trailing in his vision. White splitting into colors and colors spinning into action. Clark closes his eyes and keeps recycling the image. He’s caught running a loop and it’s not until there’s a hand on his arm that he realizes he’s being walked inside.
